Four Days in Seoul: Day 2 (Monday)

Monday: I spent the night at hanna (#3)'s place, and spent some time in the morning at the Coffee Bean. then, hanna and i headed to Myeongdong where we met up with some of my teacher friends and ate at an italian place.
typically, korea's italian restaurants tend to have a nice ambiance and mundane taste. this place was okay. just okay.

hanna and i then wandered around shopping for a few hours and then went off to Namdaemun Market for some time.
later that day, i had my first experience with a "DVD room" (see photo below). you choose a movie from the fairly extensive selection of dvds and give it to person at the counter. then, you are led to your room, a tiny room with a couch and a big screen. then, the person at the counter starts the movie. imagine that you went to rent your movie at Blockbuster and watched it a small room with a big screen in the back of the store. that basically what this is like. it was fun but, honestly not much different from renting a movie and watching it at your house. and, a bit more expensive at almost $12 for that experience. these rooms are everywhere in Seoul and certainly worth the experience. above, hanna is posing in the dvd room. after the movie, we went to eat some yummy korean pork stew.
on the way home from our meal, we ran into one of hanna's exchange student friends, marie, a french girl. so, the 3 of us went out. it was quite refreshing to suddenly be with a french and finnish in the middle of seoul. the sunglasses? those were marie's but we passed them around throughout the night.
