Four Days in Seoul: Day 3 (tuesday)

hanna and i started off our day with a bike ride. she knew about a park in seoul that rented bikes for one and two hour time slots. by the time we got there it was almost noon, on what was to be a very hot day. but, regardless of the heat, we set off for a 2 hour ride. it was hot. we rode along the river, stopping a little convenience store for a lunch of kimbap.

after the ride, we were very, very hot and decided to go to the World Cup Stadium which has a movie theater and shops. we wandered around there, debated seeing a movie, and then chose to instead go to another theater, hoping for a better selection.

a note on korea and movies: koreans seem to love movies, and there are certainly a lot of english movies here. however, they tend to like (from my small perspective) more of the "action fantasy blockbuster type", batman, the mummy, spiderman. it makes sense that they wouldn't be crazy about dialog heavy films that are less translatable, both culturally and linguistically. i, however, tend to love movies that are less flashy and more, er...smart. so, let's just say that on the list of "things i am looking forward to experiencing in america" is to go back to watching the kind of movies i really like.

so, moving on,...hanna and i ended up going to another theater and watching an awful movie, "100 feet". we had no idea what the movie was about, beyond that we knew it was in english. now i must beg of you all, please do not waste your time and money on this uninspiring, unsmart, horribly predictable "horror" flick. please. don't do it. :)

after the movie, we headed back to hanna's apartment. and, eventually went to bed.
