happy birthday eunice!

wednesday was eunice's birthday so, the posse swept me away as soon as i was finished teaching at 6 and we headed off to what is apparently a famous place to eat korean bbq. on the way to seoul i have passed this restaurant many times, always noting the excessive amount of cars lining up to get a parking space. "All Nations" is the english translation for the restaurant, though from what i could tell, i was the only nation represented beyond the plethora of koreans.

each table has the fire pit and what made this place fun was that once you finished consuming pounds of meat, there were sweet potatoes wrapped in foil in the fire that you could dig out and eat for "dessert". by the way, in case i haven't yet mentioned this, koreans love their sweet potatoes. they incorporate them into most sweet and savory dishes.

after eating, we went out to back of the restaurant, and entire yard catering to the large numbers of people that were waiting to get into to this very popular restaurant. the landscape with gorgeous, right up against the river, with bonfires scattered around for people to (yes) roast sweet potatoes while to they waited to get in. self-serve coffee and slushies were available on the house, there were beautiful fountains to watch, swings to play on, fires to stir, plenty to do.

outside, we, logically, obtained 2 dozen raw sweet potatoes, wrapped them in foil and threw them into a nearby fire. the most amusing event of the night was in watching katie and eunice dig potatoes out of a fire with tongs in their ever-common formal wear.

after finishing our potato duties, we headed back to my apartment and consumed unwisely high quantities of coffee until long past my wednesday night bedtime.
