preschool outing

on friday, the preschool attended a "children's day festival" (children's day is a national holiday on monday for korea) across the river that i was slightly dreading because, according to anna, this festival was horribly boring last year.
it wasn't as boring as i was fearing, but i was remarkably hot and, about 3 hours too long. all day we sat outside, under tents, chasing kids and forcing fluids. there were tae-kwon-do presentations (including a man jumping through fire), there were clowns on stilts, face painting and races. now, korean mothers are fierce competitors. watching them watch their 4 year olds in tricycle races was pretty astounding. koreans accept nothing but winning from their kids. scary.
then they had a 50 meter dash race for the mothers. women were tripping and falling and i swear i saw them clawing at each other.
i suppose there's a reason korea has developed so rapidly in the last 50 years.

the least part of my day (easily) was when i had to use the porta-potty-squatty-potty. that was about more than i could handle.

by the way, the sunglasses that the kids are all wearing are mine...
heck, it was children's day, it's the least i could do for them. :)

I look pretty pissed at the tricycle race. Maybe it was all the cheating parents.
