one of those days you kinda wish you never had

the other teachers chose to sit on the floor on the bus. fun times.
popeyes. no spinach on the menu that i could see.
my sandwich. not exactly the extent of excitement i was anticipating for the day.
(and below: a cool reflection off the top of TechnoMart)

i had, what i thought, was a good idea for an exciting saturday adventure. i convinced some of the fellow teachers to join in and we headed to town to catch the bus to seoul, to catch a movie in technomart and to catch bus home. a good half day in seoul never hurt anyone.

after a longer than anticipated town errands (2 hours waiting) for some of the teachers, we finally met up at the bus station at around 3.

we should have suspected something was wrong when the bus didn't come and didn't come and...
but, we are naive and non-korean. sometimes we just don't pick up on the subtle hints.

when a bus finally came after 4 pm, we disappointed to discover we had no seats... but, i assured them i had done this before and it wasn't really that bad. 45 quick minutes to seoul standing in the aisle. no problem.

Yangpyeong is notorious for its awful horrid traffic. but, all of seoul escapes to YP on friday and saturdays and return on sundays. so, for us usually going to seoul on a friday or saturday is perfect...the traffic is all going to other way.

however, on account of a 3 day weekend, the traffic patterns were all twisted and unpredictable. and, to our horror, it took us nearly 2 hours in evil traffic to get to Seoul.

did i mention i had to use the bathroom?
did i mention we were standing in the aisle?

we got to seoul... alas, feeling beaten and worn. but, a movie cures all problems.
i specifically was intending to see the "sex and the city" flick. but, anything would do.

we got to the theater, waited in line for a ticket and then were told there were no tickets for any movies until the 9pm or later showing.

unfortunately, the latest bus leaves at 9:30...making the movie an impossibility.

ugh.

so, we ate chicken sandwiches at Popeyes (yes, an american establishment that i have never eaten in america) and took the bus home.

lame day.
and for me, a flopped idea.

i kinda wish i just stayed home to watch CSI.
