co-ex, kimchi, and everything nice

saturday i went into to seoul for the day. some of the teachers had to go in early for some errands so, i took the bus in with them super early. it felt 4 am or something, really, it was 7am. i went to Co-Ex mall...Seoul's massive underground mall....and spent the hours before the stores open just wandering around. then, i was struck with an urge for a mcdonald's egg mcmuffins. (it's funny when you think you're above marketing schemes and then suddenly you're sitting in front of an egg mcmuffin. and, as it was one of the only places open at 9 am, i gave in. i hadn't had bacon in months.

one of the most bizarre things of the day was the movie theater inside the mall. it was 8:35 am. that's am, morning, pre-lunch. there was an extensive line and everyone was buying popcorn and soda and nachos. this was absolutely bizarre to see.

then, i went to the Kimchi Museum. yes, Co-Ex mall has a Kimchi Museum. an entire museum devoted to fermented vegetables. and, though it was small and, thought it was a bit ordinary, i'm glad i can say i've been there.

after Co-Ex, i met up with my new friend, Hanna. yes, my third hanna of korea. she's Finnish and is studying this semester in Seoul (she's my other hannah's friend). we wandered around the mall for a bit and then went to the Techno Mart area, went on a long walk along the river, talking and sitting and eating kimbab).
my day was good, the weather was perfect and being in seoul was, as always, refreshing.
